As we round out Mental Health Awareness Month, I sat down with Elyse Cohen, the VP of Social Impact & Inclusion at Rare Beauty, to discuss building a with purpose and making a meaningful social impact as an organization. Elyse has over 18 years of experience in her craft, including working as the Deputy Director for First Lady Michelle Obama where she helped launch the Let's Move initiative. She shares what she learned during her years at the White House and how the former First Lady was a champion of authenticity and vulnerability.
During her transition back into the private sector, the role at Rare Beauty came up and Elyse instantly knew that it was made for her. Rare Beauty is Selena Gomez’s makeup brand that is making waves in the beauty industry and beyond. Elyse and I discuss how the brand leverages being a celebrity-founded start up and use their platform to advocate for mental health awareness. We also touch on creating a company culture that’s in alignment with corporate values, engaging in corporate social responsibility in a genuine way, and what’s coming up next for the Rare Impact Fund.
Today, Elyse and I talk about:
“We need to stay true to who we are and build our own North Star.” #MAYFAIRWORLD
