SB5751 cuts West End care options

ForksTalk Local News and Analysis
About
Senator Kevin Van de Wege (D -WA 24 Sequim).

STATE SENATE BILL FIFTY-SEVEN FIFTY-ONE WOULD CUT WEST END HEALTH CARE OPTIONS -- THE FORKS HOSPITAL FOUNDATION SAYS.

THE BILL'S TITLE SOUNDS INNOCUOUS ENOUGH:

IMPROVING WORKER SAFETY AND PATIENT CARE
IN HEALTH CARE FACILITIES BY ADDRESSING STAFFING NEEDS,
OVERTIME, MEAL AND REST BREAKS, AND ENFORCEMENT.

THE BILL OUT OF THE LABOR AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE
HAS OVER A DOZEN STATE SENATE SPONSORS.

BUT SENATE BILL FIFTY-SEVEN FIFTY ONE REQUIRES THAT FACILITIES
DURING AN UNPRECEDENDED NATIONWIDE NURSING SHORTAGE,
RECRUIT TO A HIGHER NURSE TO PATIENT RATIO

AS FOR THE IMPACT THAT COULD HAVE ON PATIENT CARE:

:06 potentially it could force f-c-h to not admit patients if they do not have the right number of staff

SPOKESPERSON SHANNON DAMRON SEES MAJOR CONCERNS SHOULD THE BILL PASS

this bill will close the forks community hospital o-b department...outcue: emergency surgeries :17

TO AVOID THAT OUTCOME, THE FOUNDATION IS CALLING ON WEST ENDERS TO TAKE ACTION

please, reach out to Senator Van der Heig and tell time to protect our community by opposing Senate Bill 57-51 :10
