"WOTE" is a swahili word meaning all of us,together pamojah but coincidentaly it also stands for the initials Warriors of The East which is a media company based in Arusha Tanzania.

Wote Radio Started from a Car stereo mp3 player,after having an urge to start a radio station having 19 albums and going,i had an urge to want to share all this music with the world,one day in july 2021 i started messing up with some wires n transmitters in our recording studio,i did some you tube research learnt how to make a simple home radio using a car mp3 player, in one day i built our first radio from an mp3 player.At first we were only able to broadcast just in our compound a 100 meters radius. but we we so happy n started airing our programs. After airing for 2 weeks i did more research online because i wanted our music to reach the whole world, thats how i learnt about building our internet radio. This is how we built WOTE online Radio.The Rest is History .Wote Radio the only 24HRS non stop Reggae Radio in Africa.

Our mission is to use our Media house as a powerful positive weapon to spread the message of peace and love and unity in the world. We are ambassadors of East African Community and Culture and we promote its unity in our Media contents through Educational, Entertainment and Life style contents.

W.O.T.E TV and RADIO Provides a common resource for news, music, entertainment, local features and information. Our media intend in developing an educational track for the society concerning African traditions and values.

W.O.T.E TV and RADIO Aims to entertain, inspire and enrich our viewers and listeners through cultural, educational and community affairs programs and services. We are striving to be a forum for many voices, by providing an outlet for the expression of a wide spectrum of ideas, targeting those who typically lack media access it is our aim and goal to continue growing and expanding W.O.T.E TV and RADIO. We commit ourselves to be a tool that promotes positive social change.

 We are the first and only Rastafarian media in East Africa that is set to compete in the highly competitive Media industry not only in East African market but also in the global market because our target is to reach international market. W.O.T.E  Media include our client’s and viewers  best interest will always comes first, we ensure that we hold ourselves accountable  to the highest standards by promoting Rastafarian Life and culture.

Africa has been portrayed as the dark continent in need of civilization.
Yet there is particular image of Africa in the Western mind.

When one is asked to think of Africa, western images that come to mind are
>Hunger and Famine
>Civil war
>Political Instability
>Tribal anarchy e.t.c

We at WOTE-TV-RADIO we believe that Africa was far ahead in terms of civilization technology, spirituality and livity. Before the deep roots in historical relationship of 400 years of #slavery and 100 year's of #colonialism which was imposed on the continent.

We as WOTE -TV-RADIO it's our duty to reflect our norms,culture and values of our indigenous Africa through our contents.

This can lead to evolution and revolution of mind and heart of the people fostering information, literacy and awareness world wide.

ABOUT US WOTE MEDIA

Our journey started in the year 2003 October I Lwanda Magere Ataka quit my job as an Optometrist/Optician bought my 1st guitar and went out on the road, I was 23 yrs old , we started as an acoustic Afro fusion reggae band  in Arusha, Tanzania Called “Warriors from the east”.

Our music is inspired by our lives in Africa which is considered third world country with poor economies having been raised in the slums and ghettos of East Africa, Our music is about the struggles and hopes of our grandfather’s, grandmother’s, our father’s and mother’s, our brother’s and sister’s and especially Our Glorious Afrikan History and the future of the African child.

From the period of 2004 to 2009 we recorded eight albums that we sold underground in our concerts and the band survived from the sales of the CDs and concerts.

 In 2009 we released our first album that we took to the radio station is called Sauti ya Rasta, two songs from this album where nominated for the Kilimanjaro Tanzanian Music Awards for 2010 we did not win.

In 2011 we were invited to represent Tanzania in a Reggae Festival Ethiopia alongside other band from the rest of the African countries, and bands from Europe, America, Australia and the Caribbean Islands. This got us International recognition because the next year we were invited by the Crown Prince of Ethiopia H.I.H Zara Yacob for the Sharma Ball which was the national holiday in Ethiopia we were the main band for the event alongside other bands from the rest of the world.

 In 2012 our album Arusha Gold was nominated for the KTMA Awards and for the first time we won as The Best Reggae Song Of the Year 2012, this is where the Band was officially recognized as one of the Best Reggae Band in East Africa.

In 2013 our song called Kilimanjaro won again in the KTMA Awards as the Best reggae song of the year. We  did the Kili Music tour filling up stadiums in ten different provinces in Tanzania  W.O.T.E  Band has been nominated frequently in KTMA Music Awards for 5 years from 2011 up to 2016 the last Awards KTMA AWARDS

In 2017 we started our own festival called W.O.T.E Reggae festival which was aimed at supporting local Reggae artists. Our festival happens at different location that we happen to choose for example at Lake Duluti in Arusha, Chemka hot springs  in Moshi, at new Msasani club in Dar es salaam and other towns that we travel.

In 2018 W.O.T.E Band expanded we opened a clothing store and curio shop, W.O.T.E Recording studios and we started venturing into business

In the 2019 W.O.T.E Band formed our own media house WOTE MEDIA our Motto being "Africa without Borders"

In July 2021 we expanded and built WOTE ONLINE RADIO.

In 2021 we were Nominated in 3 Categories in the Tanzanian Music Awards Best Reggae song of the year,Best male reggae artist of the year and Best Male Traditional musician of the year.  

W.O.T.E Band For the nineteen years has released 19 albums and our music has been successful in spreading awareness and educating society concerning our roots, culture and values, We have performed at many festivals in East Africa including Serengeti Festival 2022 ,Ongala Festival 2020,Malindi Children Festival 2012 ,Kan Festival Arusha 2020 &2021,Nyumbani Festival Arusha 2021,Zanzibar Reggae Festival 2021,Chagga Festival 2020,Reggae in the Rift Valley Festival in Ethiopia 2011,The Ethiopian Sharma Ball Addis Ababa 2012 just to mention a few. W.O.T.E Band has been supporting local musical talents through regular interaction with youth projects, primary schools and orphanages, where we teach music and encourage artistic expression
