About WOTE

"WOTE" is a Swahili word meaning "all of us, together (pamoja)." Coincidentally, it also stands for Warriors of The East, a dynamic media company based in Arusha, Tanzania. WOTE Online Radio is East Africa’s premier 24/7 reggae and cultural music station, dedicated to uniting Africa and the diaspora through powerful, uplifting sounds.

Our Story – From a Dream to a Movement

WOTE Radio started with a simple yet revolutionary idea—to share music that uplifts, educates, and unites. In July 2021, what began as an experiment with a car stereo MP3 player quickly evolved into an online broadcasting platform. Initially, our signal reached only a 100-meter radius, but with passion, dedication, and relentless research, we expanded to reach the entire world through internet radio.

Today, WOTE Radio stands as the only 24-hour nonstop reggae station in Africa, delivering conscious music and positive vibrations across borders.

Our Mission At WOTE Online Radio, we believe in using media as a powerful tool for social change. Our mission is to:

Our Vision – Changing Africa’s Narrative

Africa has long been misrepresented in global media, often reduced to stereotypes of hunger, conflict, and instability. At WOTE TV & Radio, we challenge these misconceptions by showcasing Africa’s rich history, traditions, and achievements. Before slavery and colonialism, Africa was a hub of advanced civilization, technology, and spirituality. It is our duty to reclaim our narrative and share the true story of Africa with the world.

The WOTE Legacy – Warriors of the East Band

WOTE Media is rooted in the musical journey of Warriors from the East Band, a reggae and Afro-fusion group founded in 2003. Led by Lwanda Magere Ataka, the band has released 21 albums over the years, sharing the struggles, hopes, and victories of African people. From underground CD sales to international recognition in Ethiopia, the Kilimanjaro Music Awards, and major festivals, WOTE Band has remained a symbol of resistance, unity, and African pride.
