Somos Louisiana Radio Comunidad
Kenneth Garza;
My name is Kenneth R. Garza, a.k.a. Kenny G., born on Jan. 25, 1967. I was the last child born into a family of eight. My mom told me that I was named after, former President John F. Kennedy. I was introduced into the music world at a very early age. My father was a promoter of Spanish bands and having been emerged into music all of my life, music became what I lived for and breathe. Back in those days, Spanish music was only heard over the AM stations, such as KULP and KANI. Having been surrounded by dances, with my father as MC, my brothers playing in bands, late rehearsals in our home and later playing in the Quienceneras (15 years old birthday celebrations.) Soon, a radio personality would be introduced into my music world. To the Tejano Conjunto Music world, he was known as Sr. Vallejo. He captured and propelled my love for radio broadcasting. I now wanted to be the voice that would promote music as I had seen and heard. Chicano Music, as it was called In the 70’s was a catalyst for Hispanic Music as we know it today.
In the 80’s my uncle, Santos Garza and Johnny Quintana gave me my first opportunity to talk on the radio and I was hooked. I worked for a few broadcast companies throughout the 80’s into the early 90’s hosting my own shows. In 1996 I had the the chance to start my own religious radio broadcasting program at KBRZ, which launched me into being able to host and promote concerts in the Lake Jackson and Freeport Texas area. I was fortunate enough to meet incredible artists of the day, such as Agapito Zuniga, Ysenia Bernal, Pahola Marino, Cuatito Canto, Ann Lydia & Fono Garcia, Joe (KINO) Garcia and Paulino Bernal & Eloy Bernal also Eloy’s daughter Rita Bernal and son Eddie Bernal. I was able to continue playing and promoting music on the airwaves until 2000. It was at that time I became a DJ for Radio Luz, in Bay City, located in the Matagorda area of Texas. I went on and had the privilege of broadcasting my own stations as I got my first LMA with Fort Bend Broadcasting for KROY 99.7 FM in Matagorda County… this station would be the last FM station in the Houston area to play Tejano Conjunto music. I also ran a station located in Kennedy Three Rivers Texas, known as 94.5 KEMA. I gained experience on a small maintenance of station transmitters in the Bay City area. With this experience it afforded me the privilege of meeting a lot of engineers and how they kept broadcasting up and running, through the airwaves. It was during this time I had the awesome privilege of meeting great Tejano artists of our times. I met Selena’s parents, Roberto Pulido, Ruben Ramos, Jaime y Los Chamacos, Jimmy Gonzales just to name a few.
Recently, having been inspired by my brother in law, Sam Arias, and Paulino Bernal to bring Tejano, Conjunto music back to the forefront… I worked and programmed a station in Lafayette for Delta Media which is the first Spanish broadcasting in that area. I now find myself to be broadcasting to the great people of Louisiana, (El Nuevo Milenio de Louisiana). With my passion for the music and my experience in the industry, I will now be bringing you the most modern Spanish music of today. We will feature Latin Pop, Bachata, Reggaeton, Norteno and Tejano, Conjunto and other genres of music . We are here to serve the people. Now which shall be my very own in this new era of what we call the age of millennials. I now bring to you and present to you Garza Broadcasting Co. The age of steaming media through WiFi Internet streaming TV right into your home, car, office or in the palm of you hand. www.GARZAbroadcasting.com enjoy desfurtan mi gente y que Dios les biendega...
