Rock It Real
ROCK IT REAL is an SA music show hosted by Aidan Harper (AKA DJ Squeek) and broadcast LIVE from Cape Town, South Africa every Thursday from 8pm to Midnight (SAST).
Aidan is passionate about South African music and has been in the industry since the late 80's. Rock It Real was specifically created as a platform to bring undiscovered SA talent to the forefront and showcase bands that would usually be passed over by mainstream channels. Rock It Real has what the mainstream media lacks and it focuses on playing seriously good South African pop, rock, metal and alternative music.
Aidan presented the Western Cape gig guide every Tuesday Live on Barney Simon’s SA music show on Radio
2000 and then on Radio 2000’s 8 til’ Late with Nicole & Kamza. He co-presented the WTF (Wine, Travel & Food) show on 2oceansVibe Radio and co-hosted breakfast show on UCT Radio.
He was the music journalist for Cape Times’ “Top Of The Times” for 10 years and also wrote for magazines such as Your LMG, Stephen “Sugarman” Segerman’s SA Rock Digest.
Aidan co-wrote and produced the Seven Day Story track, "Going Nowhere Slowly" for the TV series of the same name, compiled the music for 52 episodes and released a 32-track double CD set of music from the show.
He was also the location sound engineer and travelled with the GNS crew for 40, 000 kilometres visiting places such as Lesotho, Mozambique, Transkei, Limpopo Province, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Swaziland and Namibia to mention a few!
He’s worked with bands such as Jack Parow, Black Cat Bones, Springbok Nude Girls, Shadowclub, Zebra & Giraffe, The Awakening, Johnny Clegg, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Ard Matthews, Dave Ferguson, Crimson House and many more.

Aidan has attended many shows and music festivals and interviewed many local and international artists including; Ed Kowalzcyk (+LIVE+); Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden); Graham Gouldman (10CC); Gary Brooker (Procul Harem); Sixto Rodriguez, Justin Hayward & John Lodge (Moody Blues), ), Ian Hill (Judas Priest), Will Turpin (Collective Soul), Martin Degville (Sigue Sigue Sputnik), Liz Mitchell (Boney-M) and more to name a few!!!
