The Music of the 60s and 70s included a vast range of artists from around the world. The British were pioneers in using contemporary Christian music, starting as early as 1960 with bands like The Concords, The Joystrings, The Witnesses, The Envoys, and The Croosbeats. In USA the most known artists were Larry Norman, Barry McGuire, Randy Stonehill, Love Song, Debby Kerner and many others.
Before Larry Norman recorded "Upon This Rock" in 1969, there were already CCM artists in USA. Among the first artists were Isabel Baker, John Ylvisaker and the bands Sons of Thunder, Mind Garage, and God Unlimited.
What I love more about the Christian artists from the 60s and 70s is that they were not interested in commercial success but only in sharing the message of the Gospel through their music.
