YOUNG AT HEART RADIO: A PROFILE
YOUNG AT HEART RADIO was started in May this year by members of the newly formed ‘Young at Heart over 60 club’ of Hellingly Community Hub.
We are a group of people engaged in the creation of a not-for-profit community radio station, where everyone is welcome, whether they belong to the YAH club or not.
Unlike other radio stations, our aim is not just to play music of our taste, or celebrate our over 60s club, but to learn the technology required to produce a radio station and allow our imagination and creativity to express themselves freely, and our skills to flourish.
We also share, to one extent or another, a passion for writing short stories and poems, and an interest in the history of East Sussex.
This is the first community experiment of its kind, giving local people the chance to participate in community life and truly express themselves.
At present the whole project is under construction. But we welcome anyone who shares our passion and might have ideas on how to improve what we do and promote our work.
We believe this idea has great potential and that it will ultimately greatly benefit the local community.
We would be happy to explore new ideas with you and hope you will join us.
