97.9 The Loop
The Loop is a Classic Rock radio station based in Chicago, Illinois. Under the slogan "Chicago's Classic Rock Station' it brought its audience the greatest Rock music classic, accompanied by live entertainment shows, news reports, contests, and various Rock music content.
The station left the airwaves in 2011, with Christian radio station K-Love taking its place on the frequency 97.9 FM. To protest this transition, the last songs played by The Loop included "Shout at the Devil" by Mötley Crüe, "The Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden, and "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC.
Despite leaving the airwaves, The Loop is still available through an online live streaming service, allowing listeners from all over the world to listen live to the curated music selection that defined the radio station.
