It's getting down to the wire for WestJet and the union representing thousands of its flight attendants. They still don't have a new contract, and the airline has cancelled nearly 200 flights. A lockout or a strike could start as early as tomorrow morning. Leaving passengers frustrated on one of the busiest summer travel weekends.

Also: Communities across Canada are marking Emancipation Day. It's the anniversary of the Slavery Abolition Act coming into effect across the British Empire in 1834, and honours the resilience of Black communities and the turning point in the struggle to end slavery. But the battle to have the day officially recognized took a long time to see success.
