Thanks Nachum!
A short week behind us sets us up for an important and action-packed week ahead. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports update, DRS, Magen David and Flatbush tangle in a varsity basketball triangle, Hillel looks to take the wind out of the Storm’s JV Basketball run and a fantastic slate on-tap for Varsity Hockey’s Eastern Conference. All that and more, good morning, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.
We’ll start out in Varsity Hockey where only three games were played on the week. Flatbush and Rambam each took wins over Solomon Schechter to stay in the hunt for playoff spots. Rambam sits 2 points ahead of Flatbush, with Flatbush playing an important game against HAFTR tomorrow night. HAFTR and North Shore battled last night with both teams fighting for separate opportunities. The week ahead is jam-packed as DRS and HANC face off Wednesday night, Magen David looks to jump above .500 when they play JEC Thursday night, DRS and HAFTR do battle on Motzai Shabbos and a 4-pack of games that impact the East next Monday night.
In JV, no games played this past week, but a few interesting games on the week ahead, as YDE and Flatbush do battle tomorrow night, with both teams needing wins to keep their postseason hopes alive, and DRS and TABC will renew pleasantries for the first time since their showdown in the finals back in March.
Varsity Basketball saw 4 games this week. In the East, both Flatbush and Magen David stayed hot and in the hunt for the East crown with big wins over YDE and HANC respectively. Flatbush sits at 7-1 and Magen David at 6-1 with big games on the week ahead as Flatbush meets up with 4th place North Shore tonight and the Warriors square off with top seed DRS tomorrow night. Following those games, it’ll be round one of the Battle for Brooklyn as the Flacons and Warriors meet up in Brooklyn on Sunday at 3, and if that wasn’t enough action to round out the year, the Warriors will travel to DRS on Monday to finish off their 2025 slate. Out West, TABC saw its First-Round Home Game hopes take a hit last night as the Storm lost to MTA 44-41. TABC drops to 6-5 while MTA sits at 5-3 and a more favorable schedule down the stretch and Ramaz defeated HAFTR to improve to 7-2 and stay in 2nd place in the West.
Finally, JV Basketball’s two-game slate saw Ramaz and Hillel both handle SAR as they look to stay in the hunt for a first-round bye. Hillel at 5-2 will square off with 6-1 TABC tonight, where TABC can put themselves within an inch of locking up the bye with a win, or Hillel can thrust themselves into the mix and give the 5-3 Rams similar hope. In the East, tonight will feature the showdown of the season as the last remaining undefeated teams, Flatbush and Magen David run it in the first of two that they will play this season.
And that was your Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.
