May is on the horizon, and with it, the Yeshiva League Spring Playoffs. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, weather impacts Yeshiva Baseball at the top of the standings boards, a logjam at the top of Girls Hockey’s West, and we reveal the details for the 2026 Martin Weiselberg Memorial Hockey Tournament. All that and more, good morning, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.

We start off outdoors, where Netzach Hatorah has picked up where they left off last year mercying all 4 games this weekend against DRS and Nishmas. Netzach now stands one game ahead of Darchai and 2 over MAY in the East. Either Netzach or MAY will head into Shabbos with their first loss as they meet up this Friday. Meanwhile, out West, Frisch picks up their 3rd win in a row, taking contests over SAR and MTA. In JV, HAFTR continues their winning ways, dominating DRS to improve to 4-0, and in Baseball, the HANC Hurricanes and TABC Storm lead their respective divisions. HANC sits at 4-0 after taking a 6-4 win over HAFTR and a 6-5 victory over DRS. They take on Heschel this week in a contest that could lock up a playoff spot for the Hurricanes. Out West, TABC knocked off perennial contenders Frisch 3-1 and now sit one game ahead of SAR who is also undefeated at 2-0.

Heading back indoors, North Shore has cemented themselves as a force in Boys Volleyball, taking yet another 3-set victory, this time over the dynastic Ramaz Rams who now have taken 2 losses on the year. Out West, SAR has buzzed to the top after defeating TABC in straight sets in a battle of the undefeated squads to improve to 5-0 and dropping TABC to 5-1.

Girls Hockey sees 4 of 5 games end in shutouts on the week. Heschel and HAFTR both get zeroed twice, as the Heat drop games to Ma’ayanot 3-0 and Frisch 4-0, and the Hawks go down 5-0 to Ramaz and 4-0 to SAR. The only non-bagel, Heschel salvaging the week with a 5-3 victory over SKA. The wins shake up the West, as Frisch, Kushner, Ma’ayanot, Ramaz and SAR all now sit within 1 one win of each other, with Heschel only one win behind the group, but needing a win in their last game with Ramaz this Sunday to have any hope of a playoff berth.

Speaking of hockey, as we head toward June, the 2026 Martin Weiselberg Memorial Hockey Tournament is on the horizon. This year, we will be commemorating 20 years, with the 18th event, as eight Junior High hockey teams converge on HAFTR on June 14th to take part in the longest running tournament in Yeshiva Hockey. As always, the tournament will be a fundraiser for Hatzolah and will feature the acclaimed memorabilia raffle. Stay tuned to the Nachum Segal Network and the tournament website MWTournament.com for more details. To become a sponsor for this year’s event, please e-mail mwtournament@gmail.com.
