As the calendar gets set to turn to April, Pesach is on the horizon, we flip the page to the Spring 2026 season, which is already in progress. Today on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, we catch you up on the first few weeks of Varsity Soccer, Boys Volleyball and Girls Hockey. All that and more straight ahead. Good morning, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.

We’ll start out in Boys Varsity Soccer where the Frisch Cougars have jumped out to the top of the league, setting an insane scoring pace in the process during their 5 wins. Their two games against the teams directly behind them in the West, 4-1 SAR and 3-1-0-1 Ramaz were both 7-goal dominations by the Cougars. In the East, a similar story is emerging with Westchester who is 4-0, a win behind North Shore at 5-1 and averaging 16 goals a contest. The two teams will square off in Westchester on April 20th. Meanwhile, HAFTR, the only team to defeat North Shore, is 3-0 and will look to stay in the mix with North Shore and Westchester after the holiday.

In Girls Varsity Soccer, Frisch has also taken the lead, in perhaps a bit closer fashion than their Boys counterparts, but still a perfect 4-0, nonetheless. The Cougars have logged two close wins over Ma’ayanot and gear up for two tough battles with SAR on the other side of the break. SAR is 4-1, sitting in between the Cougars and the Rapids, with a 7-5 loss to the Rapids as the only blemish on their season. Out East, SKA and Ramaz are each 3-1, with Ramaz defeating the Sonics last week to knock them from the ranks of the undefeated. The only East team without a loss is Central, who sits at 2-0, with one of those wins, a 13-4 win over Ramaz.

In Girls Hockey, Kushner has leapt out to an early 5-0 record. The rough part of the schedule is still ahead of them, though, as April will bring meetings with 2-0 Frisch and Ramaz. Out East, only 1 team has earned a victory, as HAFTR is on top at 2-0. North Shore, Central, SKA and HANC are all looking for their first wins,

In Boys Volleyball, TABC is out in front, storming to a 4-0 record, including a 5-set victory over three-time defending champion Ramaz. SAR is right behind them at 2-0, sweeping matchups with Kushner and Solomon Schechter. Out East HAFTR is 3-0, taking wins over DRS, Rambam and Kushner to hold a slim lead over 2-0 North Shore.

We’ll be on break next over the Pesach holiday, but when we come back, we’ll get into the JV Soccer scene and run you through the diamond sports.

And that was your Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.
