A transcript of this week's update is below.

Thanks Nachum!

Winter break has passed and we have now hit the home stretch…weather pending of course. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports update, we come to the last week of the 2025-2026 Winter Regular season. All that and more, good morning, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.

Varsity Basketball and JV Basketball, weather permitting, wlll be finished early next week. In Varsity, currently, the East has DRS locked into the #1 seed with Magen David, and Flatbush fighting for the 2 and 3, a battle likely settled on Sunday when the two teams meet up in Magen David. First, however, Flatbush needs to get past HAFTR, also fighting for the 3 seed and looking to stay in the hunt for a first round home game, a battle that could be lost with a defeat to HAFTR and wins by North Shore over HANC and MTA. HANC is locked into a visiting role in the first round, with the seed to be decided in the matchup with North Shore. Out West, Frisch and Ramaz have earned byes, but the top seed is still up for grabs. Both are at 11-2 with a game this week. Frisch gets SAR tonight with a win locking up the top seed. Should Frisch lose, Ramaz will get a chance at the 1 spot where only a win over Hillel will give them the West. Both SAR and Hillel will be locked in their own race as the two teams grapple with MTA and TABC for first-round home games with games in hand over the Storm. All 12 teams have clinched playoff berths. This week will decide where everyone winds up once the knockout rounds begin.

Moving over to JV Basketball, where the East setup comes down to two games. Magen David and Flatbush have earned byes and will square off for the division tomorrow night where a Magen David win keeps the Warriors perfect and the clear top seed, while a Flatbush win by more than 10 points will leave it up to the fate of a coin flip. Meanwhile, North Shore and DRS are locked into the 3 and 4 seeds and will host HAFTR or YDE, also squaring off tomorrow night with the winner, the 5 seed going to DRS and the loser, the 6 seed heading to North Shore. Out West 1-3 is determined with TABC, Frisch and Hillel in that order. 4-6 will belong to JEC, SAR, Ramaz or Heschel with one being on the outside. Heschel at 3-5 holds the balance in their hands, as they face MTA twice, with two wins propping the Heat into either a three-way or four way tie, depending on JEC’s own battle with MTA, and Ramaz finding its way to the outside looking in on the post-season. Easier stated, JEC knows it will face SAR in the 4-5 matchup with the location in the balance, and Hillel will need to await Heschel’s battle’s with MTA to see whether it’ll face Ramaz or Heschel.

Varsity Hockey has DRS and HAFTR with first round byes in the East and a matchup next Monday in the Greenhouse where HAFTR would need a big win and quite a bit of help to swipe away the 1 seed. YDE is locked into the 3 seed and Magen David took the 4 seed, sweeping the back-to-back home and home with Solomon Sechter before the break. Magen David will host #5 HANC while YDE awaits the 6th seed which right now belongs to Rambam, who can still be challenged by Flatbush and North Shore. Flatbush has HAFTR and YDE over the week, North Shore will have YDE as well, and the last matchup affecting the race will be Rambam and North Shore next Monday.

Finally, in Boys JV Hockey, SAR can wrap up the 2nd bye with a win over Flatbush tomorrow night and keep itself in the running for the top overall seed when it meets up with TABC next Monday night. HAFTR, Frisch and DRS are fighting for seeds 3-5, with HAFTR having a leg up on a first-round home game, as Frisch and DRS will need to face each other this coming Sunday, meaning that one of those two teams will not gain enough points to catch the Hawks should they defeat MTA on Motzai Shabbos. Finally, the 6 spot will be a race to the finish as Ramaz, Flatbush and YDE will be in an all-out sprint to the finish that may not be decided until Flatbush meets up with Ramaz next Tuesday night.

Next week, we hope to bring you the last of the regular season action and set you up for the playoffs, however, given the weather this past weekend, and what’s expected for next weekend, that may not be known until Tuesday night. If that is the case, next week’s sports update will be pushed off until Wednesday so that we can bring you the most up to date information on all things Yeshiva League.

And that was your Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, I’m Elliot Weiselberg.
