  The Federal Reserve is nearly certain to keep its key interest rate unchanged at its policy meeting this week, just a few days after President Donald Trump said he would soon demand lower rates.


Vincent Reinhart, chief economist at BNY Investments and a former top economist at the Fed, said Powell won’t let Trump’s attacks affect his policy decisions.

 Fed officials have clearly signaled they expect to skip a rate hike, at least in January, to evaluate the job market and economy.

Some officials, including Beth Hammack, president of the Fed’s Cleveland branch, have argued that the persistence of inflation means the Fed should keep its key rate elevated. Hammack voted against the Fed’s quarter-point cut last month.

Most economists forecast that widepread tariffs will likely lift inflation by roughly several-tenths of a percentage point — not a large amount, but potentially enough for the Fed to postpone rate cuts. It could take months for the tariffs to be formally imposed and then to evaluate their impact on the economy. Some economists don’t think the impact will be apparent until next year.

Trump To Reinstate Service Members Who Were Canned For Refusing COVID Vaccination

President Donald Trump will sign an executive order Monday to reinstate service members who were canned from the military for refusing the COVID-19 vaccination.
Service members, whether active or reserve, will be restored to their prior rank, receiving full back pay and benefits, according to a fact sheet provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation. Former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin discharged over 8,000 members for refusing the vaccination, and only 43 returned to service after the vaccine mandate was lifted in 2023.
“In spite of the scientific evidence, the Biden Administration discharged healthy service members—many of whom had natural immunity and dedicated their entire lives to serving our country—for refusing the COVID vaccine,”  the fact sheet reads. “Government redress of these wrongful dismissals is overdue.”
The Pentagon required all service members to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under threat of pay docking and forbidding members to train with their units, with additional resistance resulting in discharges.
“It is a lawful order,” Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby said in 2021 regarding the vaccination. “It is a valid military requirement to get the vaccine. And it does apply, as we’ve said before, to members of the National Guard.”

 The United States has reported its first outbreak of H5N9 bird flu in poultry on a duck farm in California, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) said on Monday.

A “committee” widely cited in the media as opposing the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services turns out to be a Bill Gates-backed “Astroturf” organization that accepts fake signatories.
The “Committee to Protect Health Care,” cited by NBC News and others, published an open letter declaring that doctors are “appalled by Donald Trump’s reckless decision” to appoint Kennedy. Thousands are said to have signed.
However, there is no verification process for signatories. (Breitbart News was able to sign up as Dr. Donald Duck, OG, of Disney World, FL, specializing in podiatry.) The anti-Kennedy petition simply accepts any signature from anyone.

In response to President Trump’s move, a group representing federal inspectors general released a letter addressed to the White House rejecting as unlawful President Trump’s mass firing of over a dozen IGs Friday night.
The letter was signed by one of the IGs fired by Trump, Mike Ware, who lectured the White House to consult with legal counsel.
The letter cited a law of dubious constitutionality passed by a Democrat-led Congress in 2022 mandating IGs can only be fired when Congress is given thirty days’ notification of the reasons. Inspectors general are appointed by presidents, subject to Senate confirmation, and are executive branch employees.
However, there appears to be a precedent for firing Inspector Generals, and it goes back to Barack Obama.
Barack Obama fired an Inspector General without any pushback from the legacy media.
In 2009, Barack Obama fired Inspector General Gerald Walpin after the IG identified millions of dollars in AmeriCorps funds that were wasted or misspent.
The man in charge of AmeriCorps was a top Obama supporter and friend, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.
Mayor Kevin Johnson, an Obama supporter, used AmeriCorps grants to pay volunteers to engage in school board political activities, run personal errands for Johnson, and even wash his car.

But no deal was ever signed and, last year, Stellantis indefinitely postponed any Belividere expansion, blaming “market conditions.”
But that was before Trump, his tariff threats and four days of meetings last week between Stellantis, Trump and his team.

 Dumb money is pejoratively a reference to retail investors (and also the title of the movie about the surge in GameStop stock). Basically, mom and pop usually arrive late to any investment news and end up being the exit liquidity for the professionals. That is not universally the case – in the GameStop situation, for instance, a major hedge fund was driven out of business – but the professionals usually have the upper hand.

If there’s a group even dumber, unfortunately, it would be foreign retail investors. And they’re buying U.S. stocks like they’re going out of fashion.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday prohibiting federal agencies from establishing, issuing or promoting central bank digital currencies.
The executive order also establishes the Presidential Working Group on Digital Asset Markets, which is tasked with developing a comprehensive federal regulatory approach for digital assets, creating guidelines for stablecoins and exploring the potential establishment of a national strategic digital asset reserve. AI and Crypto Czar David Sacks will chair the group, and it will include leaders from the Treasury Department, Securities and Exchange Commission and other relevant agencies.
“The digital asset industry plays a crucial role in innovation and economic development in the United States, as well as our nation’s international leadership,” the order said. “It is therefore the policy of my administration to support the responsible growth and use of digital assets.”

The executive order mandates that all federal agencies and departments submit recommendations to the group regarding the rescission or modification of existing digital asset regulations. It also explicitly repeals the Biden administration’s previous executive order framework governing international engagement in the digital assets industry.

EU Updates Digital Rules Requiring Big Tech To Allow ‘Reporters’ To Monitor Hate Speech 

Under a revised code of conduct on online speech, the European Commission says that Big Tech signatories need to allow a network of “monitoring reporters” to regularly monitor hate speech notices.
 
On Jan. 20, the European Commission announced that updated hate speech guidelines will be folded into the Digital Services Act (DSA).
The DSA is an EU-wide regulation that regulates the obligations of digital services.
Part of this requires social media platforms to remove, and take other specified steps to deal with, what is deemed disinformation. The DSA fully came into force in 2024.
Under the revised code, companies that are signed up must allow a network of “monitoring reporters” that are nonprofit or public entities with expertise on illegal hate speech to regularly monitor how the signatories are reviewing hate speech notices.
They will have to review at least two-thirds of hate speech notices received from monitoring reporters within 24 hours.
The EU said that the updated code of conduct, a voluntary instrument, builds on a 2016 code on “countering illegal hate speech online.”

The EU also wants signatories to present “country-level data broken down by the internal classification of hate speech (such as race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation).”

WHO announces sweeping cuts ahead of US exit – media

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced cost-saving measures in response to the planned withdrawal of the US, its biggest contributor, Reuters and Politico have reported, citing an internal memo.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday, declaring that the US would leave the UN global public health agency within 12 months.
“This announcement has made our financial situation more acute, and we know it has created significant concern and uncertainty for the WHO workforce,” Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told staff in an email sent on Thursday, as quoted by Politico.
The WHO, as a coordinating authority on international health issues, relies on funding from dues-paying member states and on voluntary contributions. Washington is by far the WHO’s biggest financial backer, accounting for 18% of its overall funding. The WHO’s most recent two-year budget, for 2024-2025, stood at $6.8 billion.
To mitigate the financial strain, the WHO is “freezing recruitment, except in the most critical areas” and “significantly reducing travel expenditure,” according to the document. All meetings are now mandated to be fully virtual unless in exceptional circumstances, and missions to countries are to be “limited to the most essential.”

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), a steadfast ally of President Donald Trump, introduced a resolution on Thursday evening aimed at amending the U.S. Constitution to permit a president to serve three terms in office.
This proposal, specifically tailored to enable former President Donald Trump to run for an additional term, seeks to adjust the current two-term limit set by the 22nd Amendment, which has been in place since its ratification in 1951.
The 22nd Amendment was a response to Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s four-term presidency, which ended with his death shortly after the start of his fourth term in 1945.

As Newsnation reported, a federal judge for the time being blocked Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship regardless of the parent’s immigration status.
U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour of Seattle ruled for open borders advocates in the case, which was brought by the states of Washington, Arizona, Illinois, and Oregon. These states claim the 14th Amendment and Supreme Court case law have cemented birthright citizenship even for the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens.



The case is just one of five lawsuits being brought by 22 states in total, along with a number of illegal alien advocate rights groups across America.

Energy Department Ends LNG Export Pause Following Trump Order

In January 2024, the federal government temporarily paused the approval of LNG exports to nations without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States. At the time, the administration cited issues such as the impact of LNG exports on greenhouse gas emissions and rising energy costs for Americans as reasons for the pause.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) revoked on Jan. 21 a Biden-era regulation that restricted LNG exports, paving the way for capacity additions in the sector and strengthening America’s energy industry.

The DOE announced that effective Tuesday, it is ending the pause as part of restoring the “Trump energy dominance agenda.”

The United States is already the world’s largest LNG exporter and shipped 88.3 million tonnes of superchilled gas in 2024. This year alone, three new plants should add nearly 50 MTPA to U.S. capacity.

If pending projects were canceled as a result of the LNG pause, Louisiana stood to suffer harm, the judge said, calling the DOE decision “completely without reason or logic.”

It did not mean that anyone who happened to give birth in this country automatically made their kid a citizen, but that’s the absurd premise of birthright citizenship.

Pentagon Reportedly Deploying 1,500 Active Duty Troops To US-Mexico Border 

President Donald Trump’s extraordinary move to restore national security began on Monday with a series of executive orders on immigration. By Tuesday, Border Czar Tom Homan confirmed that large-scale raids targeting criminal illegal aliens were underway. UK Defence Secretary John Healey made clear to the House of Commons that a Russian spy ship, Yantar, had been detected in the English Channel and loitered over critical undersea infrastructure. This was first reported by the Financial Times.
“Russia remains the most immediate and pressing threat to Britain … and any threat will be met with strength and resolve,” Healey said.
He said the Yantar spy ship had passed through the Strait of Dover and into Dutch waters.

This order directs federal agencies to implement a range of security procedures authorized by the US Constitution, Immigration and Nationality Act and United States Code.

All the so-called “detailees” from federal agencies and departments to the National Security Council (NSC) in the White House have been removed and President Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor Mike Waltz is conducting a full review of all staff who will be detailed to the entity, an NSC official confirmed to Breitbart News.

Waltz had told Breitbart News during the transition in an exclusive interview that they would be all removed on day one, and new ones who were on board with Trump’s vision would take their place. Detailees, as they are called, are officials from various law enforcement, military, and intelligence agencies and departments across the federal government who are detailed to–or assigned to–the White House’s National Security Council. The NSC is the entity that helps corral the entire federal government behind a president’s national security agenda, but in Trump’s first term it’s the entity from which several deep state moles like Alexander Vindman and others came at Trump. Vindman, who was a detailee to the NSC in Trump’s first term, was obviously the impetus for the first impeachment of Trump. Waltz made it clear in that Breitbart News exclusive interview, published earlier in January, that he would send all the detailees back to their respective agencies and departments right away on day one of the Trump administration–and that they would be replaced with new ones who were not disloyal to Trump.

Trump’s DHS Guts Board Investigating Chinese Hacking Group Salt Typhoon

The Trump administration has gutted the Department of Homeland Security’s advisors, removing key individuals who helped the Department investigate cyber threats.
“In alignment with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) commitment to eliminating the misuse of resources and ensuring that DHS activities prioritize our national security, I am directing the termination of all current memberships on advisory committees within DHS, effective immediately,” said a letter signed by acting director Benjamine C. Huffman.

The removals included people on the DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB). The CSRB joined DHS officials and private individuals with deep knowledge of cybersecurity and set them to the task of investigating online threats.
The board had gained notoriety after investigating major hacking incidents including the Log4Shell vulnerability, the hacking group Lapsus$, and the compromises of Microsoft Exchange inboxes in 2023. The board was investigating the CCP-backed Salt Typhoon, a hacking group that compromised major telecom companies in the past few years.
One of the terminated board members is Chris Krebs, the Chief Intelligence Officer of SentinelOne. Krebs had previously served as the head of CISA but was fired by Trump after pushing back on the President’s claims of election interference in 2020. “He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot,” one of Trump’s lawyers said of Krebs at the time.

Memorandum to Resolve the Backlog of Security Clearances for Executive Office of the President Personnel

  There is a backlog created by the Biden Administration in the processing of security clearances of individuals hired to work in the Executive Office of the President.  Because of this backlog and the bureaucratic process and broken security clearance process, individuals who have not timely received the appropriate clearances are ineligible for access to the White House complex, infrastructure, and technology and are therefore unable to perform the duties for which they were hired.  This is unacceptable.
Therefore, by the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order:
1.  The White House Counsel to provide the White House Security Office and Acting Chief Security Officer with a list of personnel that are hereby immediately granted interim Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearances for a period not to exceed six months; and
2.  That these individuals shall be immediately granted access to the facilities and technology necessary to perform the duties of the office to which they have been hired; and
3.  The White House Counsel, as my designee, may supplement this list as necessary; and
4.  The White House Counsel, as my designee, shall have the authority to revoke the interim clearance of any individual as necessary.

What does Trump’s order say?
The order questions that the 14th Amendment extends citizenship automatically to anyone born in the United States.
The 14th Amendment was born in the aftermath of the Civil War and ratified in 1868. It says: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order renaming Mount Denali, the tallest mountain in the US, and the Gulf of Mexico. The text of the order was released by the White House on Monday.
According to the document, titled “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness,” the purpose of the renaming is to promote American heritage. Trump had announced the changes in his inaugural speech on Monday.
”The naming of our national treasures, including breathtaking natural wonders and historic works of art, should honor the contributions of visionary and patriotic Americans in our Nation’s rich past,” executive order reads.
The mountain in Alaska will once again be called Mount McKinley, its name from 1917 to 2015, when then-US President Barack Obama returned the peak to its original native name.
’McKinley’ bears the name of the 25th US President William McKinley, who led the US to victory in the Spanish-American War in 1898.
As a result of the peace treaty, Spain relinquished its claim to Cuba, and ceded sovereignty over Guam, Puerto Rico and the Philippines to the United States. The US also annexed the independent state of Hawaii during the conflict, thus expanding its territory. McKinley himself never visited Alaska.
The executive order changes the official US term for the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America.”
The body of water, located in the southeastern region of North America and bordered by the US, Mexico and Cuba, “has long been an integral asset” of the nation and is “an indelible part of America,” the executive order states.
It adds that the gulf’s natural resources and wildlife “remain central” to the national economy.

A federal appeals court ruled Friday that the controversial Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA, was illegal but stopped short of allowing a nationwide injunction issued by a federal judge in Texas to go into effect. The three-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit ruling on the case restricted the scope of the injunction to Texas to allow further appeals.

DACA is, in my opinion, the toughest part of the illegal immigration catastrophe facing the United States to solve. DACA enrollees arrived in the United States as very young children when their parents or guardians illegally immigrated. They are culturally American and frequently can’t speak the language of their home country and have no family or social ties to it. There are an estimated 580,000 DACA enrollees.

DACA, as the Texas judge ruled  has no basis in law. It does not even rise to the level of a regulation. DACA started out as a 2012 memorandum signed by Obama DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano. It was never an executive order. It never went through the rule-making process required by the Administrative Procedure Act. It has never been enacted into law by Congress. Ordinarily, any memo by a cabinet secretary ceases to have validity when they leave office, not so with DACA. When President Trump’s DHS secretary rescinded the DACA memo based on the advice of the Attorney General of the United States, the Supreme Court held, in a 5-4 vote (guess how the Chief Justice voted), that the Trump administration was required to follow the Administrative Procedure Act to withdraw a memo that was never subjected to that act, see The Supreme Court Rules Trump Can’t End the Illegal DACA Program Because Nothing Matters Anymore. The cancellations are simply weather-related. But a few sources I trust have said the extreme weather is good cover to make things much safer because of the heightened security environment. The Secret Service has a zero-fail mission, and there is absolutely no room for errors.
The USSS operates in extreme weather environments all the time — but it’s different when you have hundreds of thousands — if not more — people converging near a protectee at an outdoor event after two assassination attempts and several long-term known threats. What the FBI said Monday — that it was not tracking any credible threats against the inauguration was laughable– especially after the ISIS-inspired terrorist who slammed into a crowd on NYE in New Orleans.
Trust in the FBI has been completely eroded. Even at Jimmy Carter’s ceremonial lying in wait at the capitol, there were two lone actors the U.S. police interdicted trying to disrupt the event — one with a machete and another who tried to blow up his car near the Capitol, the U.S. Capitol Police chief Thomas Manger said Monday.
The last inauguration that was conducted inside the Capitol was Ronald Reagan’s second swearing-in. Reagan was the only other president in the last four decades to have been shot and nearly killed by a would-be assassin. It occurred during his first term. Is this simply a coincidence? After what I heard from sources, I don’t believe it is. I’m told by a well-positioned source that there have been deep concerns among some federal law enforcement officials about the open spaces surrounding the capitol where the ticket-holding Inauguration attendees were supposed to be sitting — whether that area and any area around the Capitol is going to be open to the public — and if so, why are there no magnetometers being positioned to screen people before they are let in. Secret Service sources tell me there will be NO ONE allowed in those open spaces on the mall next to the Capitol, and they will have numerous post-standers guarding the perimeter with many security sweeps near the Capitol complex. Everyone inside the Capitol, except members of Congress and Supreme Court justices, will be screened through magnetometers.
If anyone tries to climb the fence with apparent or obvious lethal force (either what looks like an explosive vest or a gun drawn) to get into those areas, they will be shot on the spot, Secret Service sources are telling me. This is one likely reason why a dozen police departments are reportedly refusing to help provide security for the inauguration — they do not like the Secret Service’s aggressive rules of engagement. The USSS, military, homeland security agents, and national guard are not messing around – no funny business or aggressive actions to scale fences or bring them down will be tolerated. The U.S. Federal Reserve announced on Friday it had withdrawn from a global body of central banks and regulators devoted to exploring ways to police climate risk in the financial system.
In a statement, the Fed said it was exiting the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) because its increasingly broadened scope had fallen outside the Fed’s statutory mandate.

Government agencies are cautioning that President-elect Trump’s inauguration may attract violent extremists – especially those harboring “election-related grievances,” according to a new report.
While no specific credible threats have been identified, agencies like the FBI, Secret Service and Capitol Police authored a threat assessment asserting that extremists may view the inauguration as “their last opportunity to influence the election results through violence,” Politico reports.
