Jelena (00:08)
Dobro došli u još jednu epizodu našeg podkasta i danas razgovaramo o obrazovanju i o školskom sistemu u Srbiji od vratića do fakulteta.
Welcome to another episode of our podcast and today we are talking about education and about the school system in Serbia from kindergarten to university.
Nevena (00:26)
When we talk about school in Serbia, we talk about school that is mandatory and school that is not mandatory. When school is mandatory, that means that we have to go to school even if we don't want to. So, we don't have an option not to go because this school is mandatory. You said that we are talking about kindergarten and about elementary school, high school, and university. In Serbia, only elementary school is mandatory, so eight years of elementary school.
Jelena (01:06)
That’s right, while kindergarten, high school, and university are not mandatory. We go to kindergarten before elementary school. When we are three, four, five, or six years old, we can go to kindergarten. This isn't mandatory, but I wanted to go to kindergarten because I wanted to play with other children, to meet children who were the same age as me.
