Intro / General thoughts

Amazing opening montage! (Borneo, it’s a stick, Fairplay, Eric, Steph tribe of 1, I’m pissed, spy shack, advantagegedon, Cirie monologue, proposal, Ethan kids, so much!)

Huge emotionality of the first half hour. I cried at:

Borneo footage in the montage and the whole thing really

Cirie’s tribal speech in the montage and again on the mat again

Jenna flashback to Borneo, cover of time magazine

      Ozzy single tear

Colby mat then again with Rizo

      Jenna remembering the first tribal

Getting to share all this with my daughter

Superfans losing all the votes (Rice, supplies, idols, advantages)

    Information as an advantage

    Standout moments:

      Coach/Ozzy one exile

      Making fire without flint

      Fashion show

    The best premier since…?

RIP Jenna and Kyle - how did their legacies change?

Themes, Stories, and Motifs

    “Mythic characters”

Hero moments: Coach, Q, Savannah calls Colby a hero

Being a fan (Rick voted, Rizo the superfan)

Do you bring the past with your (coach v. Ozzy)

Giving everything (Jeff monologue “we want it all”, Kyle medivac)

Being a new version of yourself vs. playing the game your way (“Play the game on your terms; Play the game that works for you today in this moment”)

    Why are you playing?

      Playing to win

      To become a legend

Having fun (Keith Nale quote: Survivor aint fun, going on a cruise is fun!)

      Self discovery / journey

    Uncertainty

    Implicit trust

    Aging and ailments
