Kompromat is Russian shorthand for "compromising material"—damaging information, photos, or recordings used to blackmail, discredit, or manipulate public figures, particularly politicians. How widespread is it? Is any world leader acting of his/her own volition? Are politicians merely messenger boys and girls, reading from carefully prepared scripts?
