The Lovin Abu Dhabi Show
What's up Abu Dhabi! Hi, I’m Lena and welcome to another episode of the Lovin Abu Dhabi Show! How are you all doing? How’s Ramadan going so far?Are we thriving? Are we surviving? Are we already thinking about what’s for iftar? Whether you’re stuck in traffic, heading to work, or still recovering from suhoor... we’ve got a packed episode today.Let’s get into it..........If you woke up this morning and thought your eyesight suddenly got worse… it wasn’t you.Thick fog rolled across parts of the UAE early Tuesday morning, with visibility dropping to just a few hundred metres in parts of Dubai and Sharjah. And yes, it caused some travel chaos. At Dubai International Airport, some Emirates flights were delayed because of the heavy fog. Emirates confirmed that both arriving and departing flights were affected. They’ve apologised, saying safety comes first, and honestly, fair enough. No one wants risky landings just to stay on schedule.Meanwhile, flydubai also said select flights were delayed or diverted due to the weather conditions. Over in Sharjah, eyewitnesses reported at least 28 flights delayed, mostly Air Arabia routes, with some rescheduling by other airlines too.So if you’re travelling today? Check your flight status before you even think about heading to the airport. Fog season in the UAE is that quiet plot twist we all forget about until it humbles us.Parents… deep breath. The UAE has officially announced the school calendar for the next THREE academic years.Yes. Three. The Ministry of Education has confirmed the approved calendar for public and private schools across the country — covering 2026–2027, 2027–2028 and 2028–2029.Let’s break it down quickly:For year 2026–2027– School starts: August 31, 2026– Winter break: December 13 to January 3– Spring break: April 5–11– School ends: July 2, 2027For year 2027–2028– School starts: August 30– Winter break: December 13 to January 2– Spring break: March 27–April 2– School ends: June 30and for year 2028–2029– School starts: August 26– Winter break: December 11 to January 1– Spring break: March 26–April 1– School ends: June 29Translation?It’s time to pre-plan vacations like a strategic mastermind. But that’s not all. The UAE also introduced a federal decree law on the governance of the National Educational Curriculum, basically creating a full legislative framework around how curriculum is designed, reviewed and implemented. So yes… lesson plans may be getting a glow-up. Parents, your 2027 self is already grateful. Now for a wholesome capital moment. His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his children joined members of the Al Ain community for iftar at the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Mosque. And honestly, there’s something about leaders breaking fast alongside the community that just hits differently. It’s Ramadan in the UAE at its core, togetherness, humility, and shared tables.Moments like this remind you that beyond the headlines and policy updates, there’s always that strong thread of community running through everything. Al Ain energy is unmatched. And now… to the courtroom. An Abu Dhabi driver who deliberately rammed another man’s car, twice, and then publicly insulted and threatened him has been ordered to pay AED20,000 in compensation. The case went through criminal courts, and the ruling was upheld all the way to the Court of Cassation, meaning it’s final.Judges made it clear: the defendant intentionally pursued the victim, crashed into his vehicle in a way that endangered his life, and effectively used his car as a weapon. Let that sink in.The victim had already received temporary compensation of AED10,000. This new ruling orders an additional AED20,000.The takeaway?Road rage in Abu Dhabi is not just “a bad moment.” It can cost you, legally and financially. Your horn is not a personality trait. And your car? Definitely not a weapon. Thanks for joining the Lovin Abu Dhabi community! Keep exploring the city’s little joys and exciting happenings, and we’ll catch you in the next episode.
