The Context of White Supremacy proudly welcomes Michael Shoels. On April 20, 1999, 13 people were killed at Columbine High School in Colorado. Michael Shoels’ son Isaiah was one of the 12 children killed. The Katherine Massey Book Club at The C.O.W.S. read a series of books on this historic massacre that 25 years later continues to inspire teenage White killers. We’re grateful and excited for the chance to ask Mr. Shoels about the treatment of his family after the massacre and if he could have ever imagined the lasting resonance that the Columbine slaughter would have. Now a resident of Tennessee, we’ll ask Mr. Shoels about The Covenant School shooting of 2023, where the Nashville shooter was influenced by the cowardly duo that killed Isaiah and a dozen others.
