The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. debuts Session 1 on The Memoirs of Robert and Mabel Williams: African American Freedom, Armed Resistance, and International Solidarity.
The Biography Kings have officially returned to primary-source reality. After a grueling 12-week forensic audit dismantling the sanitized academic distortions of The New Jim Crow, we wash our hands of corporate non-profit "Race Management" and return to the uncompromised gold standard of Black revolutionary history.
This newly compiled text features previously unpublished, first-person manuscripts written by both Robert and Mabel Williams. Crucially, the text is co-edited by definitive historian Dr. Akinyele Umoja, who has been a featured guest on our program twice for his masterwork We Will Shoot Back.
More than a decade after our comprehensive review of the foundational text Negroes With Guns, we step back into the trenches of Monroe, North Carolina, to trace how the Williamses organized armed self-defense guards to repel Ku Klux Klan motorcades.Most importantly, this joint memoir shatters the provincial limits of typical domestic political discourse. While much of mainstream, so-called "Black Nationalist" dialogue remains hyper-focused exclusively on lines drawn within the borders of the United States, Robert and Mabel Williams intentionally target a global System of White Supremacy. We analyze their strategic political exile, tracking their underground international solidarity networks from the shortwave transmissions of Radio Free Dixie in Havana, Cuba, straight to elite anti-colonial alliances in Beijing, China.
