Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands Surf Zone Forecast 5 Day Outlook Beach Conditions
Surf Report San Juan Puerto Rico
About
Good morning, I'm bringing you the surf zone forecast for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands for the next five days.
Let's start with today. Across most of Puerto Rico, we're looking at surf heights hovering right around three feet with low rip current risk everywhere. It'll be sunny to mostly sunny with just isolated showers popping up here and there. Winds are light, ranging from five to ten miles per hour out of the east to northeast, though the Mayaguez area might see some northwest winds developing this afternoon. If you're planning a beach day, conditions are looking pretty solid.
Moving into Wednesday, the pattern holds steady. We're expecting similar three-foot surf across the northern and eastern zones, while the southwestern and southern areas will see heights drop to around two feet. Expect another sunny day with isolated showers and east winds that'll be light in the morning before picking up slightly in some areas during the afternoon. Rip current risk remains low across the board, so beach lovers can feel confident heading out.
Thursday brings some changes to the weather picture. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop, particularly in the northwestern part of Puerto Rico where we'll see numerous showers rolling through. Surf heights stay consistent around two to three feet, and winds pick up slightly to around ten to fifteen miles per hour. The vibe shifts from pure sunshine to a more active weather day, but nothing dramatic on the water.
Friday continues the showery theme, especially across the northwest again with numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms possible. Surf will edge up a bit in some spots, particularly around St. Croix where we might see four-foot waves. Elsewhere, expect two to three feet. East winds will be running ten to fifteen miles per hour. It's still a great time to be in the water despite the occasional rain shower.
By Saturday, we're wrapping up the week with improving conditions. Mostly sunny to sunny skies will dominate across all zones. Surf heights will bump up slightly with most areas seeing three to four feet, giving surfers a little more to work with. East winds will be the consistent theme, ranging from ten to twenty miles per hour depending on your location. Culebra and the Virgin Islands will have slightly stronger winds, but overall it's shaping up to be a nice finish to the weekend.
Throughout this entire five-day stretch, rip current risk stays in the low category. However, remember that life-threatening rip currents can still occur near groins, jetties, reefs, and piers even when the risk is low. Stay aware of your surroundings and always swim near lifeguard stations when available.
Whether you're a surfer chasing waves, a swimmer looking for calm waters, or just someone who loves being at the beach, conditions are looking favorable across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Pack your sunscreen, keep an eye on those isolated showers, and get out there to enjoy what the ocean has to offer.
