Southern California Surf Forecast Sunday Monday Malibu Ventura Santa Barbara Conditions Waves Water Temperature

Surf Report for Los Angeles California

About
Good evening, this is your National Weather Service Los Angeles and Oxnard Surf Zone Forecast for Sunday and Monday, March 29th and 30th.

Let's start with the Southern California beaches from Malibu down through Los Angeles County. Sunday is shaping up to be a mellow day with surf heights running one to three feet and a low rip current risk. Water temperatures will be pleasant, ranging from 60 to 67 degrees, so definitely grab a wetsuit if you're sensitive to the cold. A west swell will be the star of the show. The tidal range Sunday looks fairly typical with a low of 1.4 feet early in the morning around 2:37 AM, followed by a high of 5.3 feet mid-morning at 8:31 AM.

Monday follows a similar pattern along the Malibu and LA County beaches. Again expect one to three foot surf with low rip current risk. The difference here is we'll see a mixed south and west swell working in, which could add a bit of texture to the lineup. Water temps stay in that comfortable 60 to 67 degree range.

Moving up the coast to Ventura County, conditions look virtually identical to what we're seeing in LA County. One to three feet of surf with that west swell on Sunday and mixed swells on Monday. Water here runs slightly warmer at 61 to 66 degrees. The low rip current risk holds through both days, so it's a safe window to get in the water.

Santa Barbara County beaches to the north will see slightly smaller surf, one to two feet, but the vibe remains calm and manageable. Water temperatures top out at 66 degrees, making for comfortable conditions. Sunday brings west swell energy while Monday calms down with no significant swell direction noted in the remarks.

Now, if you're willing to venture further north to the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Central Coast, conditions get noticeably different. Here the surf jumps to three to six feet on Sunday with that mixed northwest and south swell interaction. This is where you'll find the best waves for the weekend. Fair warning though, the water temperature is significantly colder, ranging from 52 to 54 degrees, so bring your thick wetsuit. Monday sees the surf back off slightly to three to five feet but maintains that fun, workable size. The swell shifts to mixed west and south swell, keeping conditions interesting.

No thunderstorms are expected anywhere along the coast over the next two days, so you won't have to worry about lightning strikes or sudden weather changes. It's looking like a pleasant weekend to get out on the water, whether you're seeking mellow beach vibes or punchier waves up north.

Stay safe out there and enjoy the ocean.
