If you're heading out to the Malibu Coast or Los Angeles County Beaches today through Sunday, listen up. We're looking at a HIGH rip current risk, so please exercise extreme caution if you're venturing into the water. Surf heights are running three to five feet with water temperatures between fifty-seven and sixty-four degrees. The swell is a mixed bag of west and south swells keeping things interesting. No thunderstorms are expected, so at least we've got that going for us. This high rip current risk carries through Monday as well with the same three to five foot surf and mixed swell conditions.
Heading north to Ventura County Beaches, same story. HIGH rip current risk through Sunday and into Monday. Three to five foot surf with slightly warmer water temperatures ranging from sixty-one to sixty-five degrees. Again, we're seeing that mixed west and south swell action. Stay smart out there and respect those rips.
Santa Barbara County's southwestern and southeastern coasts are looking at a MODERATE rip current risk, which is a step down but still something to keep in mind. Surf heights here are a bit smaller at two to four feet, with water temps hovering around sixty degrees. The swell is primarily coming from the west. Conditions remain moderate through Monday with similar heights and a mix of west and south swells developing.
Now, if you're a big wave enthusiast, the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Central Coast beaches are where the action is. We're talking six to nine foot surf this afternoon through Sunday, driven by a solid north swell. Water temperatures are the coolest of the region at fifty-two to fifty-four degrees, so break out that thicker wetsuit. Come Monday, west-facing beaches will see three to five feet while south-facing beaches maintain that impressive six to nine foot range, still fueled by that north swell. The water stays cold at that northern latitude.
