Sunday Sermons

Why doesn't God's word change us more? In week 3 of our series through James, Ps Simon looks at James 1:19-27 and what it means to receive God's word humbly, look into it carefully and live it visibly.

In week 2 of our series through James, Ps James looks at where temptation comes from, how it grows, and why we can trust God who gives only good gifts and never changes.

James says to count trials as joy not because the trial is good, but because of what God is doing in us in the midst of it. Opening our series through James, Ps Simon looks at trials, wisdom, and the undivided life God is growing in us.

Join Ps Simon as he leads us through 2 Kings 2:1-15, where Elijah is taken up to heaven and Elisha is left to continue without his beloved mentor. As one faithful servant departs and another steps into his place, we'll see a powerful truth: God takes His servants home, but He never takes His work or His power with them.

This week Ps James leads us through 1 Kings 19:19-21 where Elisha, while going about his everyday work, is called by God to carry on Elijah's mission. Leaving everything behind Elisha obeys God and goes. Through Elisha's example we see that faith is trusting the God we know with the future we don't.

Join Ps Simon as he leads us through 1 Kings 19:1-18, where Elijah comes down from the victory on Mount Carmel and, within a single verse, is exhausted, afraid and depressed enough to pray that God would take his life. Through it all we'll see how the God of compassion responds to His servant - He listens, He restores, He speaks and He sends.

Join Ps Simon as he leads us through 1 Kings 18:17-39, where a prophet, a wicked king and 450 prophets of Baal meet on Mount Carmel, and a nation that has been calling out for years finally discovers which God answers. Through it all we'll see the mercy of a God who calls a divided people back to Himself.

Join Ps Simon as he leads us through 1 Kings 17:7-24 and we follow Elijah into four hopeless places - a dry brook, a foreign gate, an empty kitchen, and a home where a boy has died. Through it all we'll see that even when God's own people have stopped listening, He is still speaking.

Join Ps Simon as he leads us through 1 Kings 16:29-17:7 and we meet Elijah in one of the darkest moments in Israel's history - a king who has made idolatry the state religion and a people who have stopped listening to God. Through it all we'll see that God keeps His promises.

In week two of Generous for the Sake of the Kingdom, Ps Simon works through 2 Corinthians 8 and Matthew 6 to ask three questions: where does generosity come from, what does it reveal, and where does it lead?
