It seems surreal that I was born over 65 years ago in a northwest hospital called Crumpsall Hospital.
Every day a different challenge; the CS Gas chamber always sticks in my mind, which was such a ‘horrible experience’. We sat in a brick hut with no windows, with only one door that seated six soldiers at any one time.
We lived there until my 16th birthday, moving again to another larger property on Colliery Street around the corner from the Fox Tavern on Clayton Lane, the local public haunt.
