We had two very special guests on this evening, Dean Thompson and David Bushman, both authors. Dean Thompson discussed his book, his past, and working with Yoko Ono and John Lennon. Dean Thompsons book, Imagine Murder: A John Lennon Mystery is a murder mystery set in the spring of 1972, featuring John Lennon and Yoko Ono solving a mystery within the fictional film company Joko Films. The novel is a fictional glimpse into the actual film company owned by John and Yoko in 1970s New York City, written by a member of the company's staff. The story unfolds during a time when the US is deeply involved in the Vietnam War, and New York City is beginning to slide toward bankruptcy. John Lennon's album "Imagine" was released late the previous year, and he continues to record music. The murder occurs on the eve of the Watergate break-in, and the hunt for the killer is on amid a publicity storm. The book is easy to confuse Dean Thompson with the fictional character David Johnson, both having experience working with John Lennon at his Joko Films's SoHo NYC location.
