UCF’s 68–7 win over North Carolina A&T looked like an all-out statement, but once you dig into the numbers and the tape, the story isn’t quite as perfect as the scoreboard suggests. Scott Frost’s squad rolled to a sixty-one point victory, with huge explosive plays from Jaden Nixon and Jakari Brown lighting up the run game. Special teams added a touchdown, the defense forced multiple turnovers, and for the first time since 2017 UCF scored in all three phases.

But here’s the truth: the passing attack remains shaky. Taven Jackson went 12 for 21 with 189 yards, but the accuracy on deep throws is a real concern. Many of his completions came on comebacks and stop routes rather than timing throws or leading receivers downfield. Against stronger Big 12 opponents, that won’t cut it. The bye week couldn’t come at a better time.

Another area to watch is the offensive line in run blocking. While Nixon exploded for two long runs, most inside carries went nowhere. Against North Carolina A&T, you can get away with that. Against Kansas State or Baylor, it’s a different story.

Still, a win is a win, and this schedule sets UCF up to work out kinks before hitting conference play. If Jackson can clean up his accuracy and the offensive line can open holes consistently, this team can surprise.
