The Death of the Resume: Skills-First Leadership for Gen Z
The resume has always been a bit of a quandary for me to be honest. An expose of past accomplishments, academic achievements and awards used to land the perfect job. Also a tool of propaganda of sorts. A game of who’s who stacked on top of layer upon layer gaming the system. It starts with “picking the dream job” and studying the job description. Next, an applicant will rewriting and rewrite the resume until the past experience looks so much like the job posted you would think they already work there.  Finally a hiring manager will ask a series of coy, manipulative and seemingly irrelevant questions to test the character of the applicant and the veracity of the resume. A process with an integrity level on par with a dating site. For what it’s worth, resume scanners and AI hiring tools have rewritten the rules to that game.Â
