On this new episode of The Crossroads we spoke with Monica Gavilanes, an intergenerational trauma and liberation centered therapist. Social worker by trade, Monica also helps Black and Latinx therapists release internalized inferiority, so their full humanity can show up in their work. She facilitates liberated care by providing training and consultation support to help shift away from the limitations of mainstream therapy. We spoke about traumas and grief, and how they could form foundations of change in our lives when treated properly. The “Supreme Court’s” overturn of Affirmative Action was also discussed, and how does that affect our communities moving forward. Do we continue to protest to get a spot at the table, or do we start building our own?
