The play follows a bet by two academics to see if they can turn a young Belfast woman, who is navigating the linguistic and political scene into getting away with presenting as a Native Irish Speaker, inviting all the questions along the way, like:
What is real Irish? What is Gaelscoilis? And what does it matter if language is about the craic, connection and community?
Why is language so intertwined with culture, heritage and identity?
Is there elitism, snobbery, an insistence on purity or perfection? How do we learn to love it in all its forms and flavours?
