Genesis 3:1-15 — The First Promise of the Messiah Announced

Immanuel International Church, New Delhi India

About

In this sermon on Genesis 3:1–15, the Protoevangelium and the first proclamation of the Gospel, Rev. James Khongsai traces the story of humanity’s Fall and the astounding mercy of God revealed in the midst of it. He unfolds the serpent’s deception, the consequences of Adam and Eve’s sin, and God’s gracious pursuit of His fallen creatures.

At the heart of the passage is God’s promise that the Seed of the woman would one day crush the serpent’s head, a promise fulfilled in Jesus Christ at the cross where He triumphed over sin, Satan, and death. As the Second Adam, Christ restores what was lost and opens the way back to the tree of life.

This message also shows why Christmas is a celebration of this ancient hope, the birth of the promised Messiah whose coming was announced from the moment sin entered the world. Through Him, believers receive victory, restoration, and lasting reconciliation with God.

A rich and hope filled reminder that God’s plan of redemption begins in Genesis and is fulfilled perfectly in Christ.
