North Highlands family rescued from home
A Philipstown Highway Department front-end loader was used to rescue a North Highlands family trapped by floodwaters on Wednesday (July 29) as a storm brought as much as 8 inches of rain to Philipstown and 4.43 inches in Beacon. Jon Kiphart said the Philipstown total is the most he's recorded in 18 years as a volunteer weather monitor. Route 9 was closed in Fishkill near Pet Pleasers in both directions until Thursday evening.
