She Paid Rs. 7 Lakh for a Europe Job, But Ended Up Stranded in Dubai for 18 Months | Durga Basyal | Harka Podcast

Durga Basyal shares her deeply personal journey—from a difficult childhood and working in other people’s homes at a young age to carrying the regret of how she treated her mother during her illness.

She also opens up about a painful job scam. After being promised a better job opportunity in Europe, she paid around NPR 700,000 to an agent and was brought to Dubai instead. According to Durga, around 25 people were eventually brought under similar promises and remained in Dubai for months without the jobs or European opportunities they had been promised.

After everything she experienced, Durga now works as a caregiver in Dubai and shares her story to warn other Nepalis: verify agents, documents and job offers carefully before paying money or travelling abroad.

This is a story of struggle, regret, survival and an important lesson for anyone dreaming of working abroad.
