Happy English Podcast

About
Do you have any coffee? Would you like some coffee? Can I have some water? I don’t have any time today.

Some and any. These seem like simple words, right? Most English learners learn the basic rule: use some in positive sentences and any in negative sentences and questions. But then things start getting confusing. Why do we say, “Would you like some coffee?” and not any coffee? Why can someone say, “Can I have some help?” And what’s the difference between “Do you have some time?” and “Do you have any time?”

Yeah… there’s more going on here than grammar books usually explain. So today, we’re going to look at how people really use some and any in everyday English.
