Mark's gospel doesn't include the genealogies of Christ, nor the events of John the Baptist's and Jesus' birth.  Mark's first sentence is incredible and very revealing.  John the Baptist's ministry and the ministry of Christ that follows prepares us all for Christmas in a fresh new way!
