About this podcast

World Intellectual Property (IP) Day is observed annually on 26 April. The global campaign offers a unique annual opportunity to join with others around the globe to celebrate inventors and creators worldwide and explore how IP contributes to a thriving music and arts scene and drives the technological innovation that helps shape our world. World IP Day is an opportunity to highlight the role that IP rights, such as patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and copyright play in encouraging innovation and creativity. World Intellectual Property 2023's theme is “Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity”. This celebrates the “can do” attitude of women inventors, creators and entrepreneurs worldwide and their ground-breaking work

In this podcast, students talk about the importance of intellectual property considerations by people venturing into creative fields. The six students, three from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology Media Department and three from the design department, are all part of the Faculty of Informatics and Design at the institutions.
