Couch co-op used to be the default, and we miss it more than we expected. We start by jumping back into Halo: The Master Chief Collection and talking about what happens when you bring a legendary multiplayer shooter into a modern family living room: 1v1 trash talk, sibling alliances, SWAT headshots, and that one moment when your kid starts getting good enough to make you sweat. It’s funny, competitive, and also a real reminder that the best games don’t just look good, they create memories.
From there, we zoom out into why local multiplayer and split-screen gaming faded as online logins, separate consoles, and digital storefronts took over. We get into the joy of older-era design, the role of physical discs and “owning” a game, and why it’s harder to find the diamonds when the release calendar never stops. Then we make the mistake of doing Halo trivia and quickly discover the gap between knowing the games and knowing the expanded lore, with questions that go way past what most of us learned from playing.
We keep the pop culture momentum rolling with what we’ve been watching lately, including a Guy Ritchie-style action pick, thoughts on The Grand Tour’s new direction, a bingeable reaction to Chad Powers season two, and why Ride or Die is a fun mix of spy craft and recognizable tropes. We also vent about movie and TV gun tropes that wreck immersion, then close by ranking horror icons like xenomorphs, Nemesis, Freddy, Michael Myers, Chucky, and Pennywise by who would be worst to have chasing us.
