About
Too often, we look for a version of Jesus that conforms to our current lifestyle rather than allowing Him to conform our lives to His image. We deeply desire God’s presence, yet we desperately hold onto the very things that hinder it. We want the blessing of salvation without the disruption of transformation.
In Luke 19, we meet Zacchaeus—a man whose life was completely upended by a personal encounter with Christ. Jesus didn't sit with sinners just to "hang out" or condone their behavior; He entered their lives to bring radical change. While the outwardly "good" religious crowd muttered in judgment—revealing a modern attitude that expects the lost to be cleaned up before they are welcomed in—Zacchaeus showed what true, immediate repentance looks like. The religious elites were outwardly polished but inwardly unchanged; Zacchaeus was outwardly flawed, but inwardly transformed.
When we allow Christ to change our hearts, a genuine transformation takes place. If we spend our lives building our own kingdom, God will often have to undo what we’ve done just to start rebuilding us the right way. We mus challenge ourselves to step out of the crowd, surrender daily to the process of sanctification, and answer the ultimate question: Have we truly been changed? > “And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house...” — Luke 19:8-9
