In this deeply nourishing episode of Embody Your Empress, Sarah King is joined by Victoria Duarte, a somatic and mindfulness coach and co-founder of the Healing Arts Center.
This conversation is a powerful reminder that healing does not need to be forceful, rushed, or formulaic. Together, Sarah and Victoria explore what it truly means to create safety within the body, honour vulnerability, and approach healing with compassion, discernment, and integrity.
Victoria shares the story behind the Healing Arts Center, a community-based sanctuary founded alongside her business partner Mark, a retired Navy SEAL. Inspired by the modalities that supported his transition out of military service, the centre was created to offer ethical, human-centred care that recognises healing is never one-size-fits-all.
Throughout the episode, we explore the emotional courage it takes to ask for help, the importance of being met by practitioners who genuinely care, and why sometimes the most compassionate act is acknowledging when a modality or practitioner is not the right fit.
This conversation gently unpacks vulnerability, grief, emotional release, and the way trauma often lives in the body rather than in words. Victoria explains how somatic work, mindfulness, creative expression, and nervous system awareness can support people who feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of how they feel at all.
In this episode, we explore…• Why healing should never make you feel broken or like you've failed
• The vulnerability required to ask for help and how safety changes everything
• Compassionate referral and ethical care in the wellness space
• Reframing crying as regulation and emotional release, not weakness
• Grief and why there is no correct way to process loss
• Somatic healing beyond talk therapy
• Reconnecting with a disconnected body
• Nervous system safety, self-trust, and embodied discernment
• How compassion becomes a daily practice, not just a concept
This episode is for anyone who feels emotionally tired, disconnected from their body, or quietly carrying more than they realise. It is a reminder that healing can be gentle, relational, and deeply human.
