Arctic Monkeys van debutar discogràficament el 2006, i van convertir el seu primer àlbum, "Whatever people say I am, that's what I am not", en el més venut per una banda novell. Recollien el rock garatge i punk moderat de bandes antecessores, com The Libertines o The Strokes, en una avui enyorada moda de les guitarres.
