The Lord Heard Their Cry 😢 Peter’s Miraculous Deliverance

By Pastor and Mrs Chifamba

Psalm 107:6

Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

Acts 12:1-5

About that time, Herod arrested some people who belonged to the church and mistreated them. 2He even had James the brother of John killed with a sword. 3When he saw how this was agreeable to the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter, too. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.4When he arrested him, he put him in prison and turned him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, planning to bring him out to the people after the Passover. 5So Peter was being kept in prison, but earnest prayer to God for him was being offered by the church.

Galatians 6:2 NKJV

”Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.“

1 Corinthians 12:25-27

To prevent all possibility of release, Peter had been put under the charge of sixteen soldiers, who, in different watches, guarded him day and night. In his cell he was placed between two soldiers and was bound by two chains, each chain being fastened to the wrist of one of the soldiers. He was unable to move without their knowledge. With the prison doors securely fastened, and a strong guard before them, all chance of rescue or escape through human means was cut off. But man’s extremity is God’s opportunity. – {Acts of the Apostles p. 145.4}

Peter was confined in a rock-hewn cell, the doors of which were strongly bolted and barred; and the soldiers on guard were made answerable for the safekeeping of the prisoner. But the bolts and bars and the Roman guard, which effectually cut off all possibility of human aid, were but to make more complete the triumph of God in the deliverance of Peter. Herod was lifting his hand against Omnipotence, and he was to be utterly defeated. By the putting forth of His might, God was about to save the precious life that the Jews were plotting to destroy. – {Acts of the Apostles p. 146.1}

It is the last night before the proposed execution. A mighty angel is sent from heaven to rescue Peter. The strong gates that shut in the saint of God open without the aid of human hands. The angel of the Most High passes through, and the gates close noiselessly behind him. He enters the cell, and there lies Peter, sleeping the peaceful sleep of perfect trust. – {Acts of the Apostles p. 146.2}.

PETER COULD SLEEP PEACEFULLY BECAUSE HE TRUSTED IN GOD

Isaiah 26:3-4

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength

“No sparrow falls without His care,

No soul bows low but Jesus knows;

For He is with us everywhere,

And marks each bitter tear that flows.

And He will never, never, never

Forsake the soul that trusts Him ever.” – {Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing p. 95.4}

IMMEDIATELY AFTER HIS DELIVERANCE PETER WENT TO THE HOUSE OF PRAYER. MANY COME ONLY TO PRAYER MEETINGS WHEN THEY ARE SEEKING CERTAIN BLESSINGS WHEN GOD GRANTS THEM THEIR REQUESTS GOD AND THE PRAYER ROOM IS FORGOTTEN‼️

Acts 12:11-12

And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. 12And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

PETER GLORIFIED GOD AFTER HIS DELIVERANCE

Psalm 50:15

Acts 12:17

But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

Psalm 34:3-10
