CME

About
Faculty: Christophe Le Tourneau, MD, PhD

Faculty: Marc Oliva, MD, PhD

This educational series examines the evolving role of perioperative immunotherapy in resectable, locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (LA-HNSCC). Drs. Le Tourneu and Oliva review the scientific rationale for integrating immune checkpoint inhibitors before and after surgery and discuss emerging evidence from key clinical trials, including KEYNOTE-689 and NIVOPOSTOP. The discussions highlight treatment selection, multidisciplinary coordination among surgical, medical, and radiation oncology teams, and practical considerations such as PD-L1 testing, radiologic assessment, and management of immune-related adverse events. Through expert commentary and a patient case, the program explores strategies for incorporating perioperative immunotherapy into clinical practice and identifying appropriate candidates for this treatment approach.
