In this week’s episode, we are diving back into one of my favourite topics - communication. I’ve discussed in the past the importance of communication as coaches, trainers, movement professionals, and all humans, but with this episode I specifically wanted to talk about how important it is to be cognizant of the language that we use. The words we say, the phrases/ slang, the timing, the instructions we deliver, it’s all important.
We’ll discuss verbal vs. nonverbal communication (with emphasis on the verbal communication in this one), we’ll look at approachability with our language when cueing and assessing the difference between internal and external language in the coaching world. We’ll also even dive into marketing and sales - whether you’re the one selling or receiving, the language used is important to consider. I’ll also share the reason I always use the word TEAM when addressing my community (it’s very intentional!).
I also share a couple resources for you to check out from some of my favourites like Nick Winkelman and Brett Batholomew, along with some things coming down the pipeline in the School of TRAINING2XL this fall (join the waitlist for the Q4 Cohort of the Coaching Foundations Course HERE!).
