On the 21st February, the world commemorates International Mother Language Day, a day proclaimed by UNESCO to promote linguistic and cultural diversity, as well as multilingualism. In a country as richly diverse as South Africa, where 12 official languages are recognised and countless dialects are spoken, this day is relevant to our daily lifestyle.
