Austin ICE Debacle Exposes The Real Truth About Food Delivery Services

An ICE agent in North Austin did exactly what taxpayers pay him to do Sunday afternoon when a routine plate check popped a Venezuelan with a final order of removal delivering DoorDash. The guy took off after being told he was under arrest, a short chase ended with the federal vehicle pinning the Toyota, and the agent put one round center mass to stop the flight.

Wilber Rafael Garces Perez is stable, in ICE custody at Pearsall pending removal where he belongs, HSI and the FBI are running the investigation, and the usual Austin politicians plus his lawyer are already spinning “work permit” stories and screaming for body cam while protesters wave flags at the scene like this was some random citizen instead of an illegal who knew full well he had to run from federal officers.

He got a real SSN the same way the Biden parole and asylum pipeline handed work permits to Venezuelans, then DoorDash took the number and put him on the road. Amazingly even if status expires or turn into a removal order later, the card still works. What actually needs to occur is an executive order eliminating this slippery slope.

These protesters are unwittingly celebrating their own demise. American citizens who once scraped a living off DoorDash and Uber Eats have been drowned out by the government stamped labor flood. USCIS took in a record 4.8 million work permit applications in FY2024 and completed 5.1 million. DoorDash itself went from 6 million Dashers in 2021 to 8 million in 2024 as total payouts rose from $11 billion to $18 billion.

Layer on parolees, TPS holders, and pending asylum EADs who can legally sign up the minute they have a SSN, and the native driver who still pays American rent watches that employment possibility vanish. That is not a free market. That is NGO backed Cloward and Piven policy. Stamp the papers, flood the apps, and starve the citizen out.

The illegal population as of July 2026 has dropped by 2.3 million since Trump took office. Just a notch in the debated number of illegals in the United States that could be from 14-100 million.
