We often become so focused on reaching the next destination that we fail to recognize what the road is developing within us.
In trucking, the destination matters. The load must arrive, the customer is waiting, and the schedule must be honored. But every professional driver knows that the destination is only one part of the trip. The weather, traffic, detours, breakdowns, decisions, and miles traveled are what test the driver and develop the professional.
Life works the same way.
The goals we pursue give us direction, but the journey builds our patience, discipline, courage, faith, resilience, and character. The difficult roads are not always delaying us. Sometimes they are developing us.
In this episode of Beyond the Truck, we discuss how to stop postponing happiness until we reach a certain weight, income, position, relationship, or level of success. We explore how to become present in the mile we are currently traveling, appreciate the people riding beside us, learn from the difficult stretches, and recognize that becoming is more important than arriving.
Your destination may be where you are going, but your journey determines who you will be when you get there.
Your next mile is your best mile. Drive it with purpose.
