Why So Serious? Were Victorians Really Always Miserable?

About this episode

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for all the recent support on my photography videos and podcast!

In this video I'm taking a look at the myth that Victorians were always miserable. Typically we see lots of portrait photographs with the subject looking very wooden and stoic, so I thought I'd share how the use of posing supports, the limited technological ability of cameras, and the conventions of portraiture dictated how the photographs looked.

If you enjoyed this episode you may also enjoy my other work…
