The Trouble with Knowing

Beautiful Business

About

Experience teaches us to recognize patterns, anticipate problems, and offer answers. But somewhere along the way, knowing can become a barrier to discovering something new.

After decades of working with leaders, I found myself drawn back to questions about human behavior, imagination, and the lifelong process of becoming. Those questions eventually led me to pursue another master's degree, this time in depth psychology.

The experience reminded me that curiosity is more than gathering information. It's the willingness to question our assumptions, listen with genuine attention, and allow what we learn to change us.

In this episode, I explore why curiosity matters as much to experienced leaders as it does to beginners, and why becoming who we are remains unfinished work.

Join me as I explore:

✅ How expertise can quietly discourage curiosity.

✅ Why curiosity is an essential leadership meta-skill.

✅ The difference between finding answers and asking deeper questions.

✅ How curiosity becomes a form of care.

✅ The value of becoming a beginner again.

Key Takeaways:

Expertise can narrow our perspective when we stop questioning what we know.Curiosity shapes how we learn, lead, and understand others.Meaningful questions don't always require immediate answers.Genuine listening creates opportunities for connection and growth.Becoming is a lifelong process, regardless of our experience.
