THIS Is What the Heat Could Be?! Giannis Era Starts With a BANG
Battered Heat Fans: A Miami Heat Podcast
The first look at the new Miami Heat might have been even better than expected.
Miami opened the preseason with a 129–105 win over the Toronto Raptors, and the things Heat fans have spent the entire offseason talking about immediately showed up on the court: pace, spacing, shooting and Giannis Antetokounmpo creating opportunities everywhere.
Giannis only needed 14 minutes to give us a glimpse of what could make this offense so dangerous, finishing with 9 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds while making all three of his shots. Toronto repeatedly sent extra attention toward him in the paint, and Giannis responded by finding Miami’s shooters on the perimeter.
And remember all those questions about whether the Heat would have enough shooting around Giannis and Bam Adebayo?
For one preseason game, at least, Miami had an answer.
On this episode of Battered Heat Fans, we're breaking down Giannis' Heat debut, Miami continuing to play at the fast pace that defined last year's offense, the shooting surrounding Giannis and Bam, and what stood out from Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Pelle Larsson and the rest of the new-look rotation.
It's only preseason. We're not declaring anything after one game.
But if this is the blueprint for the 2026–27 Miami Heat?
Things could get very interesting.
